WRGW 80th Anniversary
February 13-15, 2009
February 2009 marks the historic 80th anniversary of radio at The George Washington University. From its beginnings a simple radio club in 1929, to the present-day WRGW radio at gwradio.com, WRGW has been at the forefront of the music and technological scene. WRGW has grown to include over 200 student staff and to provide a variety of programming options, from live Colonials Basketball coverage to rock, hip hop, and talk. The station has been part of the campus culture at GW since it's inception as a small group of amateur radio enthusiasts.
This website will serve as the main point of communication about our 80th anniversary for the many WRGW alumni who helped build GW's student run radio station over the years. To begin our celebration, please join WRGW and Program Board as we celebrate 80 years of radio at GW with a kickoff concert featuring Ben Folds and Jason Mraz on February 13. During this weekend, we will also feature multiple "open house-type" events all weekend. The celebration of our 80th will continue throughout the year leading up to a big celebration during Alumni Weekend 2009, Oct. 1-4.
To get involved, contact Steve Roche, CCAS BA '06, MA '07, WRGW alumni coordinator, at wrgwalum@gwu.edu or Mark Forrest, associate director of clubs & groups, at 1-800-ALUMNI-7 or clubs@gwu.edu.

"I came back here because it's a family atmosphere. The housekeeping and grounds crew — they were watching me when I was playing."
