Health and Safety
The health and well-being of GW students, alumni, friends, faculty, and staff remains a top priority for GW and all alumni events will proceed in compliance with all state, local, and public health guidelines.
By registering and attending an event, participants voluntarily understand, acknowledge, and assume the potential risks related to possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus, including illness, injury or death as a result of the COVID-19 virus. Participants understand that there may be additional requirements in place at the event, and agree to adhere to those requirements when registering.
All event guests aged 5 and older are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. There are currently no requirements for event guests under 5 years of age. Event guests with a medical condition or a closely-held religious belief that prevent vaccination must show documentation of their exemption and proof of a negative PCR or antigen test result within 24 hours of the event.
All event guests aged 5 and older should be prepared to show proof of vaccination or proof of exemption and a negative COVID-19 test result and a valid photo ID prior to entering the event.
GW has partnered with CLEAR Health Pass to provide an easy and secure way to demonstrate your proof of vaccination. Enrollment in the CLEAR Health Pass prior to the event is encouraged, but not required. Instructions on how to enroll are available online.
Individuals who do not enroll in the CLEAR Health Pass will need to be prepared to show a copy of their Centers for Disease Control (CDC) vaccination card or a negative PCR or antigen test result within 24 hours of the event and a government-issued photo ID (aged 18 and up) prior to entering GW events.
Visitors and guests at indoor events in GW venues (Smith Center, Lisner Auditorium, Jack Morton Auditorium, etc.) will still be subject to vaccine verification. Please check the specific event's website for detailed information. Updated FAQs about visitor requirements are available here.
The Office of Alumni Relations will follow all guidelines created by the university, and adjust accordingly should those guidelines change.
The Office of Alumni Relations will adhere to GW vaccination and mask requirements, CDC guidelines, state and local restrictions, and any venue-specific requirements. This includes but is not limited to capacity limits, social-distancing rules, indoor mask requirements, etc. We also understand that the situation around COVID-19 is evolving, and restrictions and guidelines may change. When the status of an event or requirements for participants change, registered participants will be informed via updated registration pages and emails when applicable.
Virtual Event Accessibility
For most virtual events for alumni, automated captioning is provided. If you require an accommodation, such as live captioning, to participate in an event, please contact Stephanie Medwid at [email protected] or 202-994-9524.
