GWAA Virtual Listening Tour

The new GW Alumni Association (GWAA) Executive Committee conducted a virtual listening tour in August and September 2019, prior to entering its strategic planning process. Through three live listening tour sessions and an online form, GW graduates were invited to share your ideas about priorities for your alumni association. Nearly 350 alumni shared feedback.

Several themes emerged, which the GWAA Executive Committee discussed in its initial meeting in fall 2019:

• An interest in being involved, but some uncertainty on how to do so, especially outside DC/NY
• Some lack of awareness of the role of the GWAA and whether it is dues-based
• Questions around the university’s affordability and value
• A focus on careers and networking, meeting alumni where they are today, effectively communicating opportunities, and being more diverse and inclusive
